Advance reservations may be made at any time. We have busy times around spring break (March, April), summer months (May-September), and major holidays. We recommend making reservations (and NEW CLIENTS setting up your pet's ORIENTATION) as soon as your dates have been determined since we book up very quickly!

We are a small facility with 4 small dog suites, 20 large dog suites, and 1 cat suite. We have a small staff to limit multiple handlers of your pet and get to know them well and each one's needs. We wish we could accommodate everyone- but we have limited space and staff. Call early (1 month prior to regular boarding stays, 2 months prior to holidays) or submit a Reservation Request to discuss availability.

  • What is CAMP ORIENTATION (TEST DAY)?

ORIENTATION allow us to interact with your pet- giving and picking up toys and food, leashing up your pet, teaching them to use the doggy door, taking them out to the play yard, observing the dynamic between multiple family dogs, and visiting with our staff. ORIENTATION days are paid full days- ($40- 8:30-12/4-6pm). Our owners and staff reserve the right to refuse any pet for daycare, boarding, grooming- it may be that they are uncomfortable, are excessive barkers, have multiple accidents, are aggressive with neighbors, are aggressive with staff, have extreme anxiety, etc. We want your pet to be comfortable and happy.  Not all pets are compatible in a boarding setting.  We reserve the right to CANCEL your boarding appointment or NOT BOOK it if your pet does not successfully complete their ORIENTATION. CAMP ORIENTATION can be SCHEDULED on Tuesdays- dropping off between 8:30-12 and picking up between 4-6 pm.

  • Will you teach my dog to use the DOGGY DOOR?

Yes. 99.99% of the dogs have no problem using the doggy door. Dogs from 5 pounds to 150+ pounds use it with no problem. It only takes a few times to show them how to go in and out. We will show your pet at CAMP ORIENTATION.  Once they figure it out, they love it!

Since all our rooms are indoor/outdoor, our inside floors are designed just like home. We do not have a drain system for those who are incontinent, not potty trained, or inconsistent in using pee pads. Additional staff and time are required for these situations- to keep the suite clean and sanitized to our standards. Excessive cleanup charges will apply and, unfortunately, we may not be able to board your pet in the future. We will NOT be able to accommodate NOT potty trained or incontinent dogs.

  • When are boarding CHECK-IN and CHECK-OUT?

FIRST TIME BOARDERS- We want our first time boarders to have a great experience so we like them to arrive during our morning office hours- 8:30am-12:00pm.  This will allow them time to settle in, get used to their surroundings, eat dinner, as well as a full day of fun with new friends.

Nightly boarding charges start after 12:00 pm (Monday-Friday, Sunday). Sunday pickups are between 4-6pm, and are charged the same as during the week- a nightly charge.

  • What Room Type will my pet need?

We will help you choose the right accommodation depending on your pet's needs- whether it's in the Little Campers (3' x 10'), Retreat (5' x 18'), or Adventures (5' x 18').

Though most customers would prefer all their family dogs to board together in one room- this will be determined by your pets coming for ORIENTATION.

  • Do you accept PUPPIES?

Yes. We love puppies! We welcome all dogs that have COMPLETED their series of puppy vaccines.
These must be completed 14 days before Orientation, boarding, daycare, or grooming (following our 14-day vet window).

  • Are there additional charges if my pet is NOT POTTY TRAINED?

YES! All puppies and dogs MUST be 100% potty trained for outside (unless they are entirely puppy pad trained). Puppies should have the concept of going outside to potty on their own. We will NOT be able to accommodate not potty-trained or incontinent dogs. Each pet has a doggy door with an outside run so they may use the bathroom 24/7. If they choose not to use it, excessive cleanup charges will apply ($5 per cleanup). If two or more dogs share a room, we reserve the right to separate if there are numerous accidents. Daily rate charges per room will apply. We reserve the right to refuse your pet's stay if they are not potty trained or are incontinent.

  • My female dog is IN SEASON/IN HEAT. Can she stay?

NO! To stay overnight, participate in daycare, or be groomed, the pet must NOT be in-season. Female dogs must be at least 1 full week after their cycle is complete- to come for boarding or daycare. If they come into season during their stay- we will call you to arrange to pick up your pet.

  • Do you require a bath before boarding?

We trust all owners are responsible for the care of their pets. Pets who arrive extremely dirty and have fleas or ticks; will receive a bath at the owner's expense. If fleas or ticks are abundant, we reserve the right to refuse to board your pet. Boarding and cancellation fees may apply.

Flea and tick control: Our policy is to have a flea-free environment for the safety of your pets and our staff. All pets must be current with flea and tick protection. If your pet arrives with fleas or ticks, they will be treated at the owner's expense and you will be called to pick up your pet.

  • What do I need to bring for my pet's camping trip?

Bring your pet's food, toys, a small blanket if you would like, and medications if applicable.

We encourage you to bring your food so your pet is more comfortable, and/or if they are on a special diet or have an overly sensitive stomach. We recommend this for elderly pets and puppies especially. Please package your pet's food from home in a sealed container (plastic container, sealable plastic bags, original bag with a top that seals, etc.). Homemade food should be bagged per feeding in zip-lock bags or containers for the refrigerator or freezer. Please pack extra food in case your stay is extended.  We do accept wet foot, canned food, food for the refrigerator or freezer.  We can accommodate most any way your pet likes their food prepared at home!

We do offer our kennel dog food to our boarders, "Purina Exclusive Lamb & Rice," for an additional daily fee.

We are happy to provide everything for your pet's needs, and you do NOT have to bring bowls, crates, bedding, etc.  If you want to bring something special from home, be sure the item is not fluff-filled and small enough to easily fit in the washing machine, such as a towel or baby blanket. Toys are encouraged- Nylabones, Kongs, and your pet's favorites that will not be destuffed or ingested while they are here. Items NOT permitted are rawhide and rope toys. All personal items shall arrive new or freshly cleaned. We will refuse any items which arrive soiled or too large. We are not responsible for any personal items which may become damaged or lost. We do not need kennels or crates left for your pet- unless otherwise agreed upon.

  • Do you administer MEDICATIONS?

Yes. Medication is vital and requires proper handling. Be sure to bring any medications (or supplements) your pet is taking with the prescription bottle/box, along with dosing instructions provided by your vet. All medication must be dispensed in a daily/weekly AM/PM pill box container. At the time of arrival, it is required that the owner of the pet gives a detailed description of instructions and what the medication is for. There are no additional charges for most medications and delivery to your pet. Pill pockets are available in the office for purchase. Pillbox containers are available at check-in. Please pack extra medications in case your stay is extended.

For those pets who need insulin or allergy shots, please place the vial in its original packaging in a container for the fridge.
Provide a needle and syringe for each shot given during the duration of their stay. It is also recommended that a couple of extra doses be left in case the pet is left longer than initially planned due to unforeseen circumstances. We do charge a handling fee of $2.50 for each injection given.

  • My pet has HEALTH ISSUES; can they still come?

We do take care of many special needs pets. Contact us directly to discuss the specific issue, and we can decide at that time.  We do have many pets that are diabetic, receive injectible medications, or are undergoing cancer or other serious treatments.  We are trained to administer these meds, so do not hesitate to ask if we can accommodate your pet's needs!

If a veterinarian has seen your pet for a contagious illness or diarrhea, they may not board or be groomed for a minimum of 14 days after they completed their round of medication, symptoms have subsided, or been released by the treating veterinarian. They will also need clearance from their veterinarian that the illness is no longer present. Pets with skin problems or hair loss must have a skin scrapping or release from their vet that they have nothing contagious. Pets with canine papillomaviruses warts cannot be boarded or groomed due to being contagious. These warts are different from those an older dog gets as they age.

Pets must be healthy enough to come to daycare, boarding, grooming.

  • What do you do in case of ILLNESS or INJURY?

We will contact you at the emergency numbers you provide, contact your emergency contact person, contact your local veterinarian to consult, and transport your pet to your vet or our on-call veterinarian for appropriate treatment (Primary Pet Care- Dr. Kevin Smith). We will take your pet to the nearest qualified veterinarian or emergency clinic (Hudspeth Animal Hospital) for any life-threatening illness. Transportation is available to transport dogs in case of any emergency. Transportation charges will apply.

  • Does my pet get to go OUTSIDE? If so, how often? Do they go out to the PLAY YARD?

Yes. Our facility features 2 indoor (DayCamp Jr. and DayCamp) and 2 large outdoor play areas for your dog to run and play, as well as toys that we can offer both inside and outside.

All suites are indoor/outdoor. All dogs have the opportunity to go out 24/7. Each pet guest may spend as much time outside as they would like due to having their outside patio by utilizing a doggy door to their inside/outside accommodations. Even if the weather is unfavorable, they may go to their outdoor area since the outside area is under the building's roof. Dogs love their private patio! Daycare guests will also go out in the big play yard at least 2X a day. Overnight guests will go out in the big play yard at least 1X a day- individually, with their family group, or with other socialized and approved dogs of a similar size and temperament.

  • Will my dog get to INTERACT with other dogs?

Depending on the dog. Most dogs do get to interact with other dogs! We love to see our pet guests having fun with new friends. Interactive play between pets is based on temperament and grouped by pet size and age. Large dogs (unless from the same family) are not included in smaller dog groups. We are very serious about making sure dogs can interact safely with others. For the safety of all our pet guests, we want to ensure they have proper socialization skills- before interacting with new dogs. Some dogs prefer/do best with interacting only with their family group or with staff in the play yard- but our team makes this just as fun!

  • What are your OVERNIGHT BOARDING RATES?

Happy Campers Pet Lodge offers 3 room types for overnight boarding.

Family pets boarding together receive multiple pet rates; however, we reserve the right to separate the pets in separate runs if this becomes necessary for any reason. If separation is needed, the second pet goes to a full rate for the accommodations provided. We reserve the right to refuse to board any pet that is a health threat to other animals, whose aggressive behavior threatens other animals or kennel staff, or if the boarding setting is not the right setting for your pet. We are a crate-free environment, so if a pet needs to be crated due to aggressive or destructive behavior, an additional daily charge will apply for after-hours turnouts. Pets that are extra significant, elderly, and special needs may also have different costs for care.

  • What precautions are taken to prevent infectious diseases?

At Happy Campers Pet Lodge, our pet guest's health and safety are our #1 priority. We require that all vaccinations be up-to-date 14 days prior to arrival. We require that Bordatella is current within 6 months (against respiratory illnesses).  Any other visible health issues must be addressed prior to daycare, boarding, grooming. We strive to keep accommodations and surrounding areas clean at all times. Rooms are cleaned daily- using a veterinarian-approved sanitizing cleaning solution on all accommodations and provide fresh bedding for each pet guest. All food and water bowls are washed daily in a sanitizing dishwasher.  Pet's outside patio, grass is sanitized daily.  Dogs do not have community use water in the play yard.  Toys and leashes used in daycare are cleaned regularly.  Daycare areas are cleaned every night.  Play yard grounds are sanitized weekly.  Our facility is very clean and well maintained!

While we make every effort to keep our guests safe and healthy, please remember that anytime pets are near one another, there is a possibility of communicable diseases and parasites. We also require a 14-day window for any vet visit (inside the vet's office/building) to include being groomed at the vet's office since sick dogs are treated at the vet. This lessens our risk of bringing something into the kennel and your pet going home sick. We require that the Bordatella vaccine is given every 6 months to daycare, boarding, grooming pets- which significantly lessens the contraction/spread of Kennel Cough and other respiratory illnesses.

  • How much is GLAMPING, and what does that include?

Call us to discuss your pet's grooming needs! We offer Bathing and Nail services, Desheds, Face, Feet, and Fanny trims, basic trims, anal glands expression, teeth brushing, etc.  We offer departure services with Day Camp and Overnight Camping- which is very convenient for our pet owners!

  • What if my trip is delayed?

We understand that sometimes unforeseen circumstances happen where you may be delayed, and we will try to accommodate your pet for the extended stay. It is always a good idea to have a local relative or friend available (as your emergency contact) to pick your pet up if we do not have availability.  Please call as soon as you know about travel changes and needing an extended reservation.

What if I get back earlier than expected?  Please call us to discuss.  If your pet is receiving scheduled bathing/grooming services this may affect picking up earlier than scheduled.  If during a holiday or reserved holiday dates- your FULL advance deposit will apply to missed days.  Please see our CANCELLATION POLICY- 7 days for non holidays, 14 days for holidays- for more information.
